Hinduism is a way of life: SC

The word Hindu is not defined. A Hindu admittedly may or may not be a person professing Hindu religion or a believer in temple worship.

A Hindu has the right to choose his own method of worship. He may or may not visit a temple.

Idol worship, rituals and ceremonials may not be practiced by a person although he may profess Hindu religion. More views on this topic noted from here

Too Much H2O is not good for athletes

A study confirms that drinking too much can be dangerous, even deadly, for endurance athletes. Drinking too much water dilutes the blood's normal salt content, producing a condition known as hyponatremia. The result: excess fluid is sucked from the bloodstream into cells--including brain cells--making them swell. Pressure grows inside the skull, and that can lead to permanent damage, even death. The drinks often carry more water with smaller concentrations of salts than are normally found in the human body; therefore, they do not replace salts adequately. Calculating fluid loss is as simple as weighing yourself before and after exercise and comparing that number to the amount of fluid you consumed throughout. It's also good to accept some mild dehydration during a long race. Taking along salty snacks to eat during the race is a good way of combating hyponatremia. Low sodium can result in headache, confusion, seizures, and death. Symptoms can include nausea, grogginess and confusion. Generally, athletes of all types are instructed prior to activities that water consumption is necessary to prevent illness from heat and to maintain performance levels.

Enjoy muscle pain

Its been a month since my last big hike, a friend of mine calls up saturday evening for a hike at Mission Peak, the next day. Since I had not planned anything for the morning, I agreed. Come morning we started late, pretty late 9am and reached the trail at 10 waiting for the rest to arrive. I met up with a friend of a friend and we were taking about a previous meeting where I could not attend, the reason I had cold. Part of the reason for the cold was my wait early morning to get PSP. Yep, now I am a proud owner of PSP. He was excited to check out the PSP that he put all his stuff in the trunk of his beamer and closed it. It took just few seconds for him to realize that he was locked out. To top it, my AAA membership had expired and another had just become a member but AAA could not figure out if he was. He stayed back to find a way to unlock while the rest headed up the trail. Since the rest were enjoying the beautiful weather, I decided to hike up quick. It took me less than an hour to get to the stop and about twenty five minutes to run down. This is the first time I hiked in my running shoes and I felt better. I ran a few sections while going up and jogged all the way down. I still have some ankle pain from long and I did feel a bit, but that did not bother me from running or going up faster. At the end of the hike, the friend was still figuring out how to get in, while I saw the cops writing parking tickets!!

I landed at another friend's place for lunch, oh .. they had made a nice lunch. The kid asked me where my family is ?? Come evening, my muscles were experiencing the effects of the rigorous hike. This pain is something which I always enjoy. Every move that you make pains. A raise of hands, a walk downstairs to get food, switch of legs while sitting crossed, all of it. But once you move and leave the muscle in its position, the muscle relaxes, you feel like heaven.

Still raining

If I can recollect, 1998-99 was the years when we had lots of rain .. El-nino effects. 2005 seems to mirror but not a good amount of rain as earlier. Rain has made lot more things greener this year too, well I was not that much of a wanderer before. A drive down south on the hilly 280 shows how picturesque it can be. We have been hiking on most of the south bay trails and you get jaw dropping views of the coast. Sweeney ridge is the best place to go. Though this is a short hike, once you climb to the top, you can see the entire greener bay area. Come spring, the area turns more colorful with flowers. I could not resist the flowers in our neighbourhood. I was on my way to work, stopped, turned back and captured few.

There is no rain in the weather forecast for the next ten days. Though evenings are cold, its sunshine during the day.
